What is Pelvic Floor Therapy (PFT)?
PFT can be an ideal option for those wishing to regain control of a delicate and person function. After successful completion of the program, the patient may expect improved function and/or to have learned strategies to lessen the effects of different types of incontinence.
What does PFT consist of?
1. Evaluation of pelvic floor muscle strength and control
2. Evaluation of current bowel and bladder habits
3. Techniques in bowel and bladder training and pelvic floor muscle exercises
4. Education regarding methods to reduce bladder irritability
5. Training in pelvic floor muscle strengthening and control which may include: therapeutic exercise, electrical stimulation, biofeedback, behavior management.
6. Biofeedback is a training technique which provides visual/auditory evidence of the status of a specific bodily function in order to exert voluntary control over that function.
